The
Saba Conservation Foundation, in conjunction with
many individuals, does an excellent job in maintaining, clearing, and marking
the hiking trails. Saba has over 14 marked hiking trails, which offers excellent
views of neighboring islands and lush Saban vegetation. The mountainous
terrain of Saba insures an abundant rainfall and lush vegetation that accompanies
it at the higher elevations. At a lower level, the rain forest gives way
to scrub brush and below that are open fields and meadows. While hiking
it is possible to view the following: Coconut trees, giant elephant ears,
mango trees, cashews, mahogany, bananas, and a wide variety of orchids.
